Overheating problem
I have a 342 Baja with Twin 502s. Port engine runs fine at about 160-170 degrees. STBD motor is getting hot. It happens if the boat is in the water or running from the hose at the house.
When I put the hose on it at the house, water goes through everything and eventually comes out the back of the boat. Then I start it and it will run about 5 minutes before it starts getting hot. Does the some thing if it is in the water.
I took apart the seawater pump and it looks fine. I did notice that when it is in the water, if I take the cap off of the fresh water flush that a little water comes out of there. I thought maybe it was the valve that is the T-for the flush but that wouldn't exlplain why the hose gets water all the way through.
I swapped the thermostat housings between the motors which swaps the thermostat and the temp sending unit. No help.
Could it be the engine driven water pump? Anyone have any other ideas?

Seawater impeller looks brand new. Just had all of the coolers off and they are fine. I am going to pull the water pump and take a look in there. This thing ran fine 3 weeks ago and then suddenly there is a problem.

My water pickups are on the transom. Even it it wasn't drawing water from the outside, wouldn't it still be fine when running the fresh water flush off of my garden hose? It does the same thing whether it is in the water or on the hose.

Fixed the probelem. I did 3 things so I am not sure what it was but it now runs at 170 all day. I changed the engine water pump, changed the sea water pump even though it looked fine, I found a groove on the underside of it and I also went through the entire motor and tightened every hose clamp to make sure it wasn't sucking air. Whichever of these things it was that was wrong, it is now fixed.
