Sirrius in my truck and in the boat... it's good. Technically, Sirrius has 3 satelites that are positioned over North America. XM 2 satelites over the Equater. No rocket scientist but I would think recteption would be better with Sirrius especially out west when you may be boating in canyons and mountians possibly blocking signals.

Re: XM or Sirius for my boat.........

I dont know if it was the rental I had at Hertz but I kept loosing the Sirius signal in the Tampa Area. Never lost a signal on my XM across the whole US except in long tunnels. According to Sirius they have two satelites over North America with ground repeaters, XM has three satelites with ground repeaters and 80 fiber optic ground networks.(According to their websites)

Try them both, I like my XM programs, but there are a few Sirius programs i would like to have. Both are not completely commercial free and I really dont like Stern.

I had XM with the Sony integration module on the boat.

It sucked. The LCD screen on the remote did not display anything. The XM signal sucked, and overal, it just sucked as far as programming and music.

I have had Sirius in the car and truck for a while. I just bought the new smaller Sirius tuner. I ran a headphone to RCA input cable from the back of my stereo's RCA inputs to the dash. I can now hook up the Ipod and the Sirius, and I velcro them both to the dash, next to each other. I am quite happy with the setup.

Re: XM or Sirius for my boat.........

I have had both and always liked XM better untill yesterday. While rafted up along side my buddy ,it took me 20 minutes on hold for a second time to re-activate my XM while my buddy calls Sirius and had his radio going in about five minutes! XM customer service is very slow.We sell both XM and Sirius and while I still like the music content of XM a little better, their customer service will drive me to Sirius.
