give me a call and I will put you in touch with one or more folks currently in this biz and doing this research, there is more to it than "who has best rates". Rates are driven by a dozen or more variables such as:
Amount of inventory
type work done
% revenue repair vs retail sales vs new vehicle sales
location of facility
attributes of facility
age of facility
degree of security at location

and a host of other things, no two situatons are the same. Give me a call and I can direct you to someone to have a conversation with.

Best bet is to call people in your area. Since you are new the $$ is going to be way over an established business.

Are you going to be working on boats? If so then more $$ than just selling boats.

I owned a distribution business, had $5M umbrella coverage for about $1,000 a quarter. I had friends that did work (automotive) and their rates we're $1,000 a month in liability for $1M. it really depends on what you are doing.

In the beginning were going to just sell boats, and keep stock on boats. We want to get insurance to cover the boats and to cover customers who want to take the boats out on demos etc.

Thanks John

The first part is easy. They'll cover the book value of the inventory. Should be close to my "umbrella" policy above. Maybe a few bucks more b/c you are new.

The second part is tricky ... they'll charge a hefty premium since on a sea trial you'll have plenty of opprutunity to hurt or kill your customers.
