Dennis Moore aluminum sbc manifolds

anyone have any experience with these as replacements for OEM? Going in 24' center console with 350 sbc.

Member "Island Time" bought the aluminum for his sbc.

I bought the cast iron. (times two)

The castings were crap and I had to spend a week of evenings making them flat.

The aluminum ones were better, I am told.

Beware of dennis moore customer service.

He gives "rough" shipping dates and doesn't always ship all items promised.

He failed to ship the riser bolts with my kits.
When I emailed him to tell him that I didn't get them he told me that I must be a "mechnical novice" since I emailed him instead of going down to the hardware store and buying some more of what I had already paid for.

I would buy them from someone else next time just because he turned into such a pr*ck when I had a question.

Island Time had better luck with dennis.

Good luck.

I bought the aluminum manifolds this year from Dennis. Except for having to chase a few threads with a tap I found the kit quite complete. I also liked the idea of losing 95#'s off of the stern.

One more thing... when he says "exact replacement" beware.

They are more like "suitable replacements."

They work.

But they are not the exact replacements.

Because he failed to mention that the EXACT REPLACEMENTS were actually more than 1/2 inch wider per set. That caused fit problems in my application that forced me to change from studs to bolts.

Huge pain in rear.

Island Time was going to check and see if his aluminum ones were sized differently than the stock ones he is replacing.

I had the complete opposite experience with them. I had a set of standard Merc exhaust, and a set of the Glm's that DM sells. Mine were cast iron, and the mounting flanges were flatter on the Glm's than the Mercs, I put a straight edge across them, and had to file a little off the Merc's, but the Glm's were dead flat. I talked to Dennis a couple times too, and he was always helpful to me. I can't say how the Glm's performed, because I ended up getting a great deal on some aluminum EMI's. The guy I sold them too had no problem with them, and he was making some pretty good horsepower with his SBC.
