Dave Callan.....gas turbine, 4 runs@ 200, 201, 201 ans 201mph.
David Scott.....piston powered boat, 4 runs@ 182, 183, 184 and 185mph.
I think Randy Kent is Speed Racer's owner??? piston powered boat. 1 run@ 156mph.

Blume... you KNOW that's a short track. Any of the entrants, Fountains included, are much faster with some room. :drink:

Callan 200 to 2001 mph, thats fast on any track. It was his gas turbine boat.

DEFINITELY fast, but he'd be faster with a few miles to run.

I suppose that on a short run they all prop accordingly. For an ocean run, it would depend on who wants to beat up their boat the most. LOTO with a 50 mph flying start would be a great course.

Wait.........so your are telling me that Speed Racer ran 156 in a shootout, but that wasn't trying and the boat is capable of going MUCH faster?? The speed record fountains are running close to 200 w/ piston engines (some say faster).

That being said, and keeping this very cordial, there is no way Speed Racer can out-run the Fountain, correct?

Based on the numbers here it is conceivable that the Fountain legitimately handed SR his arse. When Fountain set the existing/standing speed record with the 42 rumor had it that he was working on a "new" 47 that would be even faster. That record was set on a sanctioned closed course with a limited run up distance. This 47 has run 150mph lap speeds on a closed offshore course. they might be closer than many are thinking. One thing for sure, Reggie started this deal and likely he will finish it, where that may be, we'll just have to stay tuned and find out.
