I only have good suggestions for when the significant other is not involved. Arizona for instance has the easiest Women for a guy to pick up in the U.S!

Actually, only looking for 3nites 4days.

Even anything in the NE would work to.
Could drive.
Not really wanting to spend 500/nite.
Could use AMEX miles too.

I dont think a boat will happen. :(
Gonna owe the contractor 80k when framing the house is done.

LAKE POWELL!!

Rent a 23 foot cruiser like we did from Do Powell rentals, brand new, did 55 MPH and ripped up the lake to camp off the boat in Cha canyon. TONS of cool hiking, fishing, swimming in what seems like mars. Travel through the desert in a boat, I loved it! Dinosaur tracks, fossil trees, blooming catus, lizards, wild horses and even a brace of B-1 bombers doing low level practice runs right over our head. Email me if you want more info, renting the boat is cheaper than most hotel rooms these days. Trip of a lifetime unless you live there!

Re: Vacation ideas

Tip if you rent a boat. Bring ALL the boating stuff you think you might need. We brought one hundred feet of rope and a ton of camping gear. the boat had one two foot length of rope. I ended up using alot of our stuff including the rope to lash the boat to the undersized trailer they gave us by mistake. Still was a great trip and no problems with the boat.

Oh yeah, no cabin door either, they remove them before people wreck them. We overnighted one night in the boat and used our packed plastic sheet and some of JC's duct tape to seal the door against the 40 temp drop in 24 hours.

Houseboats are useless unless you have a lot of time, don't mind being passed by everybody, and tow a 17 foot runabout to get into the side channels towering hundreds of feet above you.

Bring a GPS, you WILL get lost otherwise, and the boats don't have them.

Have a great trip and post pictures if you go. We also drove 2,500 miles through the various deserts on that trip. Lake Powell was the highlight. Grand canyon is very close and was second in my opinion. Before we got to Cha canyon, we refueled at Dangling Rope marina, on a barge in the middle of nowhere. We went in April and saw about ten other boats on a lake with more shoreline than the entire east coast of the U.S. If you like camping and hiking, you will love lake Powell. We could not hike up the Teddy Roosevelt trail because a sand storm drove us out. Can you tell I am still amped about this trip we did about five years ago? <gg>

Do some google searches on Colonel Powell and the hiking around Lake Powell, and you will be booking your flights tomorrow. Here is a start:

Montreal always seems to have events that make this city a great time for vacations with the significant other. Jazz festival, Just For Laughs, and even Formula One racing. Montreal is a less expensive European flavor, even Mercedes taxi's! :drink:
