5 card stud or "buy your best hand"? Thats one thing I hate..... if the poker run really was just a game of chance it would be 5 card stud.... what you get at your stops is the hand you have...... Not as long as you keep forking over the dough you can improve your hand.....

Generaly you see things like full houses and any 4 of a kinds win the simple 5 card stud type runs. Usually takes a pretty strong hand to win the "buy your hand" type runs... although in Jax Dock won with a king high flush I think....

I remember at the Emerald coast PR you needed to have a high 4 of a kind to be even close like 4 kings or aces.... only those droppin big cash would end up close..... was more about spending than luck....

As far a prizes.... JFFPR had a Harley one year and I think a 20' Outlaw one year. Emerald Coast had a 350Z one year, and a Convertable mustang this year...(v-6  ) and a 27' Fountain one year. Smoke on the water was/is $10,000. Just a few examples...

I had all 8 allowable hands at Desert Storm and the best I did was two pairs. Bad hands are a curse that has been following me for 20 years yet I continue to hold out hope.....

Royal Flush Jax poker run winner Richie Prince. I believe the Mrs. picked the cards. All that got him was a flat screen TV.

Yeah, I guess money talks. Is there a limit as to how many hands you can buy?

Wow, I havent heard of any prizes like the Harley, Outlaw, etc. That would kick @ss to come home after a day of boating with something.

RICK, we feel your pain on the bad hands. We ALWAYS end up with 5 random cards, a face card if we're lucky! :D

RHC.

You are correct on the 100k+ number.

Last I heard the Texoma Run on Labor Day is back to winner take all again and the pots have been growing each year. 37k last year. Should hit over 50k or more this year.
