real simple I enjoy what I do ( except when it 90 deg and 95% humidity) and dont mind sitting down with a customer and going through the system or having them there while I work on it might mean that I wont get rich because I wast too much time with them but guess what, I dont care....... and if II get that big That I have to worry about it then I want out....

I let them watch me install, from the window of the waiting room, for the simple fatc that then they can see how difficult it can be to install film and why my prices are what they are, if it's not right I rip it off and start again. the less expensive guys cant afford to do that as they don't have proper margins.

It definately helps to be friends. There's a nice bar and grill at my marina, and I hook my guys up with lunch and drinks when they're done with their shifts...It goes a long way to spend time with them and it also gives you a chance to relay what you expect.

Im will usually check out the operation from time to time and see how they treat my boat. Most places don't give a crap how they treat your boat and it shows.
I like direct contact with the mechanic to go over problems/solutions for the boat. Customer service is a HUGE priority to me or I go elsewhere.
