I did something similar last week. The last 12 feet of my garage it separated into a work shop. I couldn't back a 20 foot boat in a 40 foot long garage. I cut a hole for the drive, and it fits like a glove. I even made the enclosure in the shop look like a big cooler.

I raised the garage roof 3' and extended it 35' so my boat would fit.
