Ocean Beach may be the best town.
Not sure of hotels there though.
Some Great South Bay'ers should know though.

OK, so now i saw your google.
you know OB is the town.
you don't need a hotel, just a marina... right?

Hotels in Ocean Beach are insanely expensive and rate lower than a soup kitchen dive in Hell's Kitchen. We paid about $300 (before we got the boat) to get a room slightly largely than the half size double bed. It was so dirty and awful we determined to be in it for no more than 4 hours sleep total. Did NOT use the sheets, slept in our clothes on top of the bed. Rest of the time outside enjoying the beach and town. Maybe we were just unlucky, but I think all of them are likely to be the same. We could not find any other available rooms, anywhere, so we left Ocean Beach after one night.

A bed and breakfest is liable to be MUCHO better and likely cheaper, but you will get killed for moorage at Ocean Beach, if you can get it at all.

Stay overnight on your boats (six right?) at no power slips (relatively easy to get and super cheap, but reserve anyway. 6 slips with power on a weekend are not going to happen, might during the week) at Watch Hill, take one boat to stop off for drinks at TJs, then saunter over to Ocean Beach to see the jammed with people town if you really want to. The houses are much the same in all the towns, are fun to walk around and look at, but Ocean Beach is just way too crowded for my tastes. Lots of young coeds in bikinis there if that is what you are looking for. I kind of doubt it, else you would have stayed at Quebec beaches, right? <gg> Ocean Beach has rules against drinking a soda while walking down the street, or eating ANYTHING while walking, can't bring your own water etc. etc. Some call it the Nazi town, but they have to do that because of the huge numbers of people there in a tiny spot. I love Ocean Beach, in early spring or late fall, NOT in the summer.

Or, after W.H. you could anchor your entire fleet of six boats off Sailors Haven in super shallow water, jump off and walk in to enjoy the prettiest natural park on Fire Island, walk by the nudes east of the park (avert your eyes, mostly gay men) and grab some lunch in gay town Cherry Hill....funky town and great restaurants though!

Whatever you want, you can find on Fire Island, except reasonable Hotel accomodations.

Isn't Fire Island a big homo hang-out? Steczy can confirm this for us.... We don't have anything like that out here on the left coast..... well........ except for San Francisco........

Two naked mid fifties gays with pot bellies running down the beach hand in hand towards you, will definately make most people lose their lunch.

The good news is that if you hang out in the wild areas, all you have to deal with are mosquitos. A thirty mile long beach, 18 small towns all of different character. A few ban ANYBODY from setting foot in their towns who do not own property in it. No gays there. We have spent three hours on the beach on a Saturday in August, and not seen more than a couple of people the whole time. Depends where you go.

Better beaches than anywhere else on the east coast in my opinion....better than the Hamptons, MV, Nantucket etc. Choose the Fire Island town, or no town (my favorite) of your flavor. Here is one of our beach buddies going for the KFC....

Try the Watch hill/ Davis Park area. Watch hill has reasonable slips and the beaches are real nice and the clamming is great on the bay side. There is a nice restaurant / bar that is about a 10 minute walk from the Marina. No gays in the area either
