How about a VW powered go fast?

The Tourag diesel motor is 335HP with about 525 ft lbs of torque. Could it be done?

why would you want it over a yanmar or the like? making that engine into a dependable marine engine would be big $$$$ and you are still way short on power compared to what is already available in the marine world...

It's the most profitable car co. to date. They also own Audi, Porsche, Lamborgini, Bently and 1 or 2 more.

I think it would be cool to marinize them. A Lambgini V10 :D They are much lighter in weight, size wise I could have put 3 of those vs the 2 - 480/925 Yanmars in my 4300 Nortech. The only problem is it needs to make a little more power and torque, around 400/650-700 to make it worth going to trips vs twins in these larger boat applications. Then you could go to ASD-7's with bravo props vs the ASD-8's and Big expensive props. Time will Tell.

Dont forget Raylar, he's working on a diesel something, what, I dont know, just what I hear. Jeff

VW does ok...but Porsche' has the greatest profit margins of any car compnay. Why? They control demand and production and the options are very costly.

I found out that they can build a Carrrera S for 50 grand and they sell it for $105 with a couple options. Look at the car closely...I can't see the money can you?

The new Mercedes Benz S-550 with 400 HP goes for 86k loaded...I can easilly see the money there.

86k is the base price without delivery even, throw a few popular options and it closes in on 100k pretty fast...

No, it cannot be done. Lamborghini proved it.

Sometimes, it just doesn't work. The reasons may define logic, engineering principles and sometimes the laws of physics. It's just the way it is.

Seen this engine at the Miami boat show in 2004. Look closly at the tag info! Then look at the size of the thing compared to the exhaust of an Ilmor V10 beside it!

The tag states 900 hp, 15 000 RPM, $254 000.00 !!!!!!!

Now if it is true, thats the schit for a boat!!!!

Anyone else see that

at 254k it would be - if it included the boat!

2 of those in an Outerlimits would cost...oh about $1 Billion dollars

Jazz, Ray is working on a nice set up withe deisel,Mercury is secretly working on a new high performance deisel in the 1000hp range, I believe you will start to see alot more deisels very soon, the reliability, fuel economy , torque , lower sound emmissions, big hp blower motors are just too hard to keep running . I think the Arnesons are a nice drive for the current deisels available, good luck with your new 43, can't wait to see it, jim
