Attention owners of older performance boats :
Where do you have your boat insured ?
I am having difficulty in getting someone to insure my 1986 Sutphen with twins.
Some companies say it`s the age, some say it`s the horsepower, others say it`s a combination of both.
I went ahead and signed with Progressive, but they will only insure it for a max value of $20K. My premium is $1140 per year with a $500 deductible. No survey required. I wanted insurance in place for the 4th. They were only company that would start coverage immediately.
I am still shopping around for someone who will cover the boats real value without raping me on premium.
These are the only 2 companies that will insure it besides Progressive:
Boat US will insure it for $30K value with a premium of $1610 and a $1675 deductible. Survey required.
State Farm quoted me $1300 premium for $40K value with a $2000 deductible. Survey required and must sign a waiver stating that no modifications will be done to enhance the top speed.....
