Diesel OBs
Anyone hear of this?
Supposedly Evinrude or Johnson are working on this. Some modifications are allowing current engines to run on diesel... Lose 10% HP, but gain torque. TIM G???? |
Re: Diesel OBs
The military asked merc to builed em. The military only wants to have to supply one fuel.

Re: Diesel OBs
Tim G. does not work for Evinrude anymore. He probably won't have any insight.

FF2, you know if merc is doing it? I heard it was one of the others. |
Re: Diesel OBs
Most of the big company's are using two stroke engines and modifiying them to run on diesel. They smoke alot and are hard starting.
I know of one small company here in florida that is building a true diesel outboard, but I can't give out any more info than that.......... But it should be ready within the next year. Don |
Re: Diesel OBs

Yes they do. But they are small horse power and very heavy for there size. I am talking about a diesel outboard that weighs less than a 250 verado but has the torque of a 525...... |
