when will the 525 go into guardian mode
 

the other day I had the boat out & had the exhaust selected closed and I could only get the boat to about 4000 rpm on both engines.I noticed today that the port eng inbd exhaust hose had a hole in it .questions are does the guardian mode auto reset ?
and are you not supposed to have the exhaust closed while running @ speed or is it primarily for putting around ?

yes it auto resets every time you turn the key. you should definitely not have the exhaust closed over say 1500 rpms is my rule of thumb.

when you say exhaust hose I am assuming that you are referring to the hose between the tail pipe and the transom?

as the oso god says he is right should not keep them closed over 1500 rpms

replace hose run open after no more then 1200 and see what happens...

easiest way to check and see if they will go in to guardian is to try and rev them over 2500 rpm's in neutral and see what happens. They should beep immediately.

Good advice so far. Also, I'd invest in a scan tool or some diagnostic software too. It's money well spent with the newer motors. Takes the guess work out of the picture.

or at least smart craft gauges
