It's just hydraulic fluid, not much to be gained or lost as heat and duty cycle are not really a factor. I use a clear one by SeaStar(I think) from boat US, less mess if it leaks or spills.

I have 3 pumps the have dark oil and 1 pump with clear oil. I guess you shouldn't mix when topping off??

Mine has ATF in them and its dark.

The standard oil put in from the factory is 10w-30 engine oil. The power steering & trim fluid is thinner. It is quieter and faster with the Power trim fluid in it .

I want to flush and change mine to the power trim fluid or a at least a 10 weight oil.
