What is up with my drive? It seems to not want to trim in?

sounds like you have a bad solenoid for the trim down section, the solenoids are the same part number for up and down, they are about 25 bucks at a merc dealer, you might try to jump around the solenoid, dont run your engines in gear for a long period of time, the u joints will be in a bad angle if in trailer mode

Very wierd. Sounds like you have some debris lodged up in there.
Do not take this likely. I had this same issue. I had a problem with a drive not wanting to trim in correctly. Turns out the outer bell housing pins and bushing had a flaw inside the gimble. This resulted in my wear pads grinding together and eventually landing on top of one another, and my outer bell housing shattered and ripped the drive right off.
