dont let this happen to you

my son swam to the back of my friends sonic (proman) and kicked his foot into the lab finished prop <the boat was not running and the drives were down> it cut him really bad on the top of his left foot and we are going to see an orthopedic surgeon this morning to reattach the tendons going to his big toe. we allways tell the kids to watch out for the props, but you know kids, they get caught up in seeing their friends and playing. this is just to remind everyone out there keep telling the kids to watch out. I dont want this to happen to anyone else.

I always figured that if I have kids swimming around my boat that I will perhaps keep a set of prop covers and just put them on. Just a thought.

He should be just fine. On the subject matter of props in the water, is their anything you can buy to put over them to keep from getting cut?

I hope he recovers quickly. I tell my kids at least a dozen times on each outing about getting too close to the prop.

Same thing happened to a girl at the lunch stop at the Sarasota poker run.
They were parked next to us. While she was in the water she said something bit her on the foot. It was a prop.

I had a friend about 5 years ago do the same thing 13 staples in his foot  however his was serated since he had run agrond a day before, it was his own prop/boat he was so pissed at himself. I am always telling everyone to watch the prop, also why I won't lab finish my prop, extra 1-2mph is not worth it to me.

Best recovery to your son., hard lesson to learn :(

The prop covers are a great idea. For a twin you need three of them. Two on the props and one on the steering wheel (a reminder) so you dont forget the ones on the props

The canvas ones that teague sells right? Thats a good idea, worse thing that would happen if you forgot them is they would spin off and you would lose a couple of bucks.

That happened a few years ago when a girl cut her foot on HavasuCig's outboard cleavers on his DCB. Put a nice gash in her foot, but luckily didn't cut any tendons or anything.

my boy ,Tyler, read the posts here and said thanks to dave 1 27fountain itlldo sanddrew strip and clay and to tell everyone he'll be OK, Wild thanks for the link. Proman and I were talking about covers last night. Another thing is a first aid kit, Proman had one and had everything in it to get Tylers foot all wraped up to take him to the hospital. I will never boat again without one. The surgeon looked his foot over today and scheduled the actual surgery for friday morning. has 7 temporary stitches until friday.

Ask G-Force about his run in with a prop! The cut was just about the length of his shin!

i cut my foot/leg on my prop 3 seperate times yesterday. Luckily only minor scrapes, but all 3 drew blood! this is from a stock rev 4, no lab finishing.

I was getting a dog, a large lab, it a boat once in waves, the boat was heaving up and down and I was timing it on the down swing to push the dog in, I had twins and moved over a foot and on the down swing the prop ran down the side of my stomach, it was a SS prop but not labbed, I ended up throwing a 110lb dog 10 feet from pure adeneline and pain, it tore my side open bad but if it had been a labbed prop I bet I would have been pushing my innerds back in and maybe bled to death since I bled a good amount as it was, in water blood looks so much worse, it was everywhere. I had to put 3 t shirts on to stop the blood from ruining the seats....screw me, the seats were all new :D That Donzi bit me more times than I care to remember  :D But in the end it went from a trash heap to this:
