Engines have arrived!

My spanky new 496s have arrived... :)

My slug will soon see the water thanks to my bud at Falcon Hi-Performance!

Now get to work Jimmy...If you're reading this, that means you're not working on my boat. :)

BTW, Jim DOES lurk here... :)

Re: Engines have arrived!

I thought you were trying to sell that, or part it out a while back.

Re: Engines have arrived!

SEAN,

Thought you would have already sold that sweeet CAFE!
One clean boat from the pics I saw. :D

Sean 07-19-2006 01:46 PM

Re: Engines have arrived!

yup... i was trying to sell it less engines and then i decided to part it out and buy new engines.

so...496s with XR Drives. TRS out, Bravo in... :D

used boat market is so soft, i'd have to give it away. now, i'll have a new boat for a fraction of the cost :D

Gary Sanchez/Cigarette1 put 496HOs in his Cafe several years ago. He sold it to another SCOPE member and that boat is still running strong.

Hey Sean,
That's great that you are going to get that boat going again! Do you think you will splash before the end of summer? I'll be coming up there in a few so I'll give you a shout . Maybe i can get a ride.:)

Sean 07-20-2006 08:12 AM

Re: Engines have arrived!

I hope it will be done by Mid-August, so Gary, if you are up this way, give me a ring...

I think it will run mid 60s with 425hp per side.

The TRS drives are gone...

Gimme a call Wes... you punk. :D

Speaking of traitors...Wait til I tell the Apache gang what Wes was riding last Saturday...oooohhhh is he in trouble!

Re: Engines have arrived!

I just wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to Jim at Falcon. The boat is finished and rigged FLAWLESSLY! I'll post some pics soon...

We're off to Block Island for a couple of days, so I'll post pics as soon as we get back.

BTW, made one pass "near" WOT and it ran 66mph with 26" Bravo I @4600 RPM. After a little more break-in and finding the proper trim angle, we hope to see more. As far as the attitude of the boat with the Bravo drives, it is like night and day...the boat seems to really loosen up now. The X-dimension is pretty high(prop shafts are only a few inchees below the bottom of the boat) and it seems to carry the bow very nicely with NO porpoise at all.

Great news Sean ... looks like a wise choice  Can't wait to see some pics. I loved the refresh on the interior ... dash, gauges and dashboard ... couple years ago. I was looking for a boat right at that time (w/ real nice, fresh 540's right???) and couldn't quite coin up for it, but man I wish I could have. Glad you decided to keep her.

Enjoy :drink:
Chris

Nice...bring that spanky Cig down to watch the GC poker run and hang with us at the Bridgeport card stop :) Should be a decent number of us that day.

Great news Sean. Now get her broken in and bring it up to our run on Lake George on Columbus Day weekend. There should be 6-7 other Cigs in attendance

Hey Sean, Congrats on the new motors. I also have a cafe, and am thinking of putting 496hos in mine. have you done any homework on what whimple chargers would do for the top end and reliability for the motors..

Thx jeff. I know that whipple came out with a system for the 496 a couple of years ago, but don't see many people using it...

btw, we just got back from block island and the boat ran flawlessly...

Jim also called me to make sure we arrived safely and see how the boat performed...how's that for customer service?!

pics to be posted tomorrow...
