Bertram "Moppie"

Anyone know what the Bertram model name "Moppie" stands for or means? Always wondered.

Over in the "Old Bertrams" thread, some of the early Bertram offshores were called Moppies. I think they still use the name for their open fish models.

Re: Bertram "Moppie"

Moppie was the name (or nickname)of Bertram's wife and the name of the first Bertram with Ray Hunt deep vee hull race boat for the early Miami-Nassau.
Then followed by Brave Moppie,Blue Moppie,My Moppie,Canadian Moppie,Whittaker Moppie......not alls raced by Dick.
