Boat owners nightmare

I saw this live on the news this am - boat starts on fire - (on its mooring?) line burns and it drifts into a dock..

(could be a dream if well insured and can't sell!)

Good thing the two guys in the skiff were there to hook it and pull it away from the other boats. The boat owners on the dock owe those guys a huge thank you and several drinks. Thankfully no one was hurt and more boats weren't damaged. That could have gotten real ugly, real fast.

I watched that this morning, live from the chopper feed... it was nuts! Those two guys in the ctr. console deserve a commendation for that move, saved a ton of boats from a LOT of damage!! Not to mention put their own azzes on the line to do it.

Wow, those two guys did a great job pulling that boat away from the others.

Remind me not to park next to the guy that was pushing it away from his boat and into the others :D

What did the two guys use to hook the boat that was on fire??? Boat hook, anchor line??

Re: Boat owners nightmare

anchor, thats why I noted about the chain, a line would have burned through

Those are some quick thinking guys, WTF did the reporter keep saying "fully involved" for? Doesn't he mean engulfed?

Re: Boat owners nightmare

I was with my friend in his Bayliner Capri filling up at the fuel dock. His bayliner had back fired earlier in the week and I told him to at least turn on the blower fan to clear the engine of fume's or at least open it. It backfired and caught on fire and was fully "involved" pretty dang fast. Lucky that it was untied and sort pushed off from the dock when it happened and I'm glad that it was a bow rider gave me a good exit point. Dang lucky cause a burning boat if tied to a fuel dock could have been real bad!!!!!
