Winnipesaukee boaters !

Well they seem to be at it again
WinnFABs (the group that supported HB162)
has conveniently scheduled a Legislative "Scenic"
Boat ride this Saturday (July 29th) and next
Saturday (August 5th). Leaving from the Meredith
town docks Saturday morning to cruise around the
lake. Why I say conveniently? BOTH Baja and Donzi
clubs are having their Poker runs this Saturday
(July 29th) and Formula is having theirs next
Saturday (August 5th). Please be EXTRA courteous,
don't be the one they point out "See that's why we
need a speed limit" and please pass the word

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

How can they hug trees in a boat if their going for a ride?

Pantera1 07-27-2006 01:36 PM

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

Hopefully the legislators will see how large the lake is and why speed is far from being an issue that requires more legislation and funding.

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

I assume they will be on the vessel "Mount Washington"? Remind them that they are supporting the degradation of the environment, the fish, the wildlife, the tranquility and peace of the lake by riding on such a large and polluting vessel (diesel). Remind them that because the ship travels at such a slow speed and creates such an enormous wake and turbulence, it poses threats to shoreline erosion, pleasure boating safety (capsizing) and visual attrocities to lake shore residents and visitors alike. Because of it's size it becomes all encompassing where ever it happens to be, and detracts from natural beauty an dsplendor of the surroundings. Also, you may wish to remind them, that the performance boaters are only there for very brief periods while cruise boats are there all season.

GOOD LUCK!

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

you should get all those big cabin crusiers on the water that day.show them what big wakes do.

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

If they are leaving from the Meredith docks they are probably going to be abored the "Doris E" or the "Sophie C". I don't think the Mount goes into Meredith bay at all.

Now that you mention it ive never seen the mount in Meredith..
Oh the Sophie C and Doris E make quite a large wake themselves..
Also be aware that the Owner of the cruise line was a big backer of HB-162 Common Man resteraunts Church Landing, Lago, etc ... Can You Say BOYCOTT !!

We'll see how much you dislike the gofast crowd when none of them eat at your greasy spoons !

DoTheMath 07-27-2006 03:48 PM

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

Maybe they'll see all the azzholes that have NO idea how to drive a boat, and realize that speed really ISN'T the issue, but boater education is! We should find out what boat they will be on and some of us should just "happen" to be on the same boat, and say things like "Look at all those guys in their Baja's, driving nice and courteously, raising money for a great cause like Easter Seals..." or something like "wow, did you see that guy in the 22' bowrider cut off that other guy in the sailboat - how irresponsible and discourteous, I bet you'd never see one of them Donzi boat owners do that!!" :D

And they started to bring the Mount into Meredith a few summers ago - so it could be the Mount, Doris or Sophie...

I have some friends that are in the run. I will make sure to spread the word.

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

Should not be to hard to figure out what boat they will be on. Of course we are assuming that the legislatures will come. Hard enough to get them to want to vote durring the week. At any rate some one should make sure that ALL the people that are running in the poker runs are made well aware of this and try and stay well clear.

Good grief. It NEVER ends up there.

Just try to be extra courteous on those runs and wave, wave, wave, when appropriate.....:)

And not the "one finger" salute.....:D

Good luck guys/gals.....

Re: Winnipesaukee boaters !

[QUOTE=DoTheMath]like " raising money for a great cause like Easter Seals..."

Which is exactly what I did when there a month ago and it turns out I won a 14ft. Sea Doo Sportster Jetboat and trailer.
If anyone down there wants to take it off my hands I will give you a great deal. My boathouse in Ontario is full and I do not want it in FL. Call or PM me if interested. Bob 519 498 6945.

Now getting back to the more important matter at hand. I hope your poker runs do not give them ammunition in their ongoing battle with you. Any chance of self imposing a reasonable speed limit during your poker run ? After all - a poker run is not a race , remember! If your groups can discipline yourselves for those two weekends regarding speed, noise and safe separation and operation of boats it just might take some wind out of their sails. Easier said than done, I know.
You have a beautiful lake down there and I enjoyed my visit and meeting some of you. Good luck. :D
Bob

This beautiful Winni boat made it's way up to the Muskoka Lakes District an hour north of Toronto for the antique boat show up here earlier this month. Just thought some may be interested or know of it.

You can bet your last dollar the local lake killers waited for a real big weekend like this to "Wine & Dine" the powers to be, the local yocals will be hawkeyeing & pointing out every move a preformance boat makes! If you boys have even the slightest bit of sense you will get the word out SLOW & COURTIOUS. The future of your lake boating depends on how you pull this weekend off! Everyone that reads this should do their best to save your lake!

We saw that on our way back from Wolfeboro on Sunday, 47 OL and when I saw it - it was smokin' alright, black nasty smoke out the tail pipes and the hatch up... not pretty, (felt bad for the guy). We'll be out and about as well, (over your way Cowisl at some point to see some friends on the island). I did the Donzi run two summers ago and everyone was great about behaving, hopefully this year will be no different.

I love Marks boats - I'd love to add a "woody" to my dock one day, nothing like them!!

The 47 has 1450's and was formally know as "big soldier." He told me he was only going 125 that day. He doesnt want to "blow the motors up yet" The 39 has 625 ilmors. Both are sweet.
