Engine Builder Drops Off My Motor With No Cam Or Gear Set. When I Dropped Off The Motor It Had A Zz502/502 Cam In It And I Told Him To Leave The Cam Alone Since He Wanted To Change It. He Says That I Did Not Have A Cam In The Motor When I Left It With Him. Should I Call My Credit Card Company And Dispute Charges Untill He Can Find My Cam Or Replace It? I Am A Little Pissed Off Right Now And Do Not Want To Make The Wrond Decision. What Would You Guys Do

I would cancel the CC and then tell him why. When he returns your cam then pay him.

BTW who is the machine shop?

I would give him a chance to fine it. It could be a honest mistake....He has had your engine for awile hasn't he?

I would give him at least 1 day to hunt down your cam. Your CC company can still reverse the disputed charge if need be. Does your original work order say anything about the cam?

TWO WEEKS NOW. I DON'T THINK IT WILL BE A PROB HE SEEMS LIKE A STAND UP GUY. BUT IF NOT I HAVE TO HAVE SOME SORT OF RECOURSE.

i think your doing the right thing. mistakes happen all the time. give him a chance to fix what happened but make sure your back is covered.

As Per Our Conversation. ( I Just Spoke To My Production Manager And He Stated That This Motor Did Not Have A Cam Or Gear Set But I Will Continue To Look In The Shop For It ) Looks Like I May Have To Call The Cc Comp Anyway. Now I Comes Down To My Word Against His.

I had something similar to this happen to me awhile back... Ended up with a discount that didn't really cover all the missing parts but was close enough and yes it only happened after my card company got involved. Since then I make sure and photo anything that gets dropped off for work so there is no issue as to what condition it is when it arrives and leaves.

YES LOCAL GUY AND I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH HIM AND HE DID FIND MY CAM AND IS REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN SET SO ALL IS GOOD. :)

red flag #1...why look for a part he says isnt there:confused: if I had said it wasnt there I wouldnt look, he is stalling for time...call the company now and don't forget to call him a few names when he "finds" the cam....
