Moisture meter..
OK, get your heads outta the UC section..
Debating on buying a moisutre meter for checking transoms, stringers etc.. Froogle shows em starting at 300 bucks, going skyward after that.. Ideas, brands, do's n dont's anyone??

I just read a good article on them. I will have to post or email ya. Its not as easy as one would think to operate one. They definatelly arent cut and dry, Theres alot of steps and know how that goes into using one to acess a bad boat from a good one.

I have one you could borrow if you like. Moisture meters are a tool wich can provide an indication of a problem or confirm it depending on the circumstances.
Let me know.... my office is at the Coast Guard Base iin South Beach so no problem dropping it somewhere in Miami and I can go over the details with you.

I never used a moisture meter (other than in the bedroom) .. But the old tried and true method of tapping with a plastic mallet works well for finding voids or soft wood.
