Default My friend's boat sank at the dock!

Got a call at my office a little while ago from a friend at my marina, told me he found his boat sunk at the dock (30' fairly new cruiser type) this morning. I'm only a few minutes away, when I got there, the water was over the sides of the cockpit, she was sitting on the bottom, low tide on it's way up, there was a crew there with the pumps going. I jumped in the water stuffed some towels under his transom door, but the tide beat us out, it's gone, she will be under most of today in about 8' of water. We'll have to wait until tonight to get her floating, what a shame!

Don't know the cause yet.

normally 6 to 7 foot movement, but lately the tides have been a little crazy around here. At dead low tide at that area of the marina he is siting in about 4 to 5 foot of water, with a 2/2.5 foot draft, it doesn't leave us much water, we usually turn up mud at low tide.

I/O's or inboards? Sounds like a thru-hull went, or maybe a bellows.

I/O's ... I'm thinking bellows too, I helped him wax his boat at the beginning of the season, I have a habit of checking the thru hulls when I walk around a boat, especially the plastic ones.

Thinking bellows too ... sorry to hear Get ready to pull motors and diesel flush if there's any chance to salvage.

I'm going back down in a few minutes, if nothing was done, I'm guessing all I will see is the arch!

I think, with the help of the marina, we'll get her floating tonight, haul her and wait for the insureance company, I think they will total it, my buddy will find out soon enough!

Boat has been in the water since April, marina maintained, great mechanics, we kicked back a few last night on the boat, I left the crew around 7:30 PM, he closed up a half hour later, all was good.
