Just got off the phone with Dan Lawrence and he stated that with this accident OSS Safety and Tech Officials are investigating the evidence of this accident and will work with this manufacturer and other manufacturers to insure the safety of their Racers.

I wonder what the thickness of that windshield was.

Unless I am mistaking it shattered, unless it was done during the rescue and recovery.

I saw the Bud Select with turbines at the Miami Boat show last year and the windshield on that looked 2" thick...

What is the standard thickness of these things?

It looks to me like the side window broke. The widshield looks like the fasteners that hold it in tore out.

Chris,
They didn't tear out of the fiberglass, they sheared off...
The inside pieces were still there....
I don't recall any pieces of the Lexan in the boat. That is why I don't see how that blew in. My theory is the top came down with a force and blew the 3 pieces outward...
Dan & Rob would know better though if there was glass inside....

Is it possible it was still intact after the crash and pushed out while the boat was being righted or is it known it was gone with the wreck?

In the end the most important thing is Dan and Rob are OK.

End of the day, the canopy did it's job. It took some damage, but absorbed all the energy that was aimed at these guys' heads. I figure the windows popped out. Glad all are around to tell the tale.
The sportsmanship showed by the other teams is a bright spot on the sport.

I'm not sure.... but at 103 mph and stop within 30 feet, anything can happen!
