Ted,
You are correct, the tree-huggers are willing to take/give away people's property rights with the blessing of the Gov't, regardless if it puts whole TOWNS on welfare, or makes people's property useless, BUT they are first to scream when Gov't wants to take some Private and Public lands for the betterment of the WHOLE community, (you know the place, where HUMAN BEINGS live, eat, sleep, raise our Families!)

Dean...It sounds like your saying that people Live,Eat,And raise families in the stadium that bush stole land for and strong armed the tax payers to pay for.Eminent Domain was set up to get propertys that the city would need to better the community. But it has been very abused by politicians wanting to further their own cause or someone else's cause if it means more property taxes for the city.If a piece of water is preserved for the Manatees then how does that affect a homeowner???If someone wants to build a porn shop next door to me it might affect the value of my home but they do have every right to build..Dean...Your really not concerned about peoples property rights..Your just worried about yourself and your boating "rights"...I know there are many people who watch this board and I would just like to say that all environmental groups including STM need to fight dirty and "Fix" data whenever needed..You are up against corrupt forces that will also do anything needed.
With the Manatees in Florida for 45 million years we don't need a court to tell us who has the right to be there.Do we.

That makes no sense Bird..3/4 of the planet is water..They want a couple tiny places protected for a animal that was there 45 mill. years before you...The real answer is not to develope in these sensetive areas to begin with..There are 3000 Manatees in Florida and you are comparing them to bugs???

Is Bird dog really Travis ???..Your posts are showing the same maturity level..

SC,
I have a question. If the manatee were to become extinct, how would that affect the environment? Would it really make a difference? Would mother nature be affected drastically?

I ask because I'm trying to understand why mankind is responsible for the continued existence of any species. Especially since long before man showed up on earth many species were going extinct. Who fought for the animal rights then? Are we not a part of the animal kingdom in whole? Don't we have rights too?

Now don't go thinking I don't care about the manatees plight. I do care. But I have to ask at what cost?

And please, just reply to me about the manatees, not George Bush.

Lakeracer. We should protect any animal that we endanger by our actions...Take for example a simple food chain..
Plankton gets eaten by a mussel or barnacle
Mussel + Barnacle get eaten by crab or snail
Crab + snail get eaten by fish
Fish get eaten by Birds,Fish,And Lakeracer

This is a crude example..But you can get the picture..Take out any one of the links and the chain falls apart.

Birdog,
I'm impressed that you have researched the Manatee Subject to the degree that you have, especially to understand that it's the commercial vessels that are responsible for 90% of the watercraft related Manatee deaths. Yet COMMERCIAL VESSLES are excempt from Manatee Zones and Laws!!
Here are a couple of websites for your reading pleasure about the Manatee issues: http://www.acoustics.org/press/142nd/gerstein2.html
http://www.cfwbrevard.org/
This last link is the Boaters/Property owners rights group that I belong to. Enjoy!
