And close to another 100 large to power and rig. But it would be so cool. :D

Re: 38ft Wellcraft Scarab for sale good deal?

[Wellcraft used a lot of middle of the road accessories and cheap rigging and construction.

Yes...some middle of the road rigging and accessorries, but the wellcraft Scarab construction and lay-up were better then most realize. My 96' 38 was hand layed, deck and hull was through bolted every 6" and glassed over from inside. Also the stringer system is very substantial. Augie Penza has been beating the snot out of the same boat for 5 years with much racing success. (same year power, drives and colors as mine)

Also, I am a fan of the older straight bottom cigs, although ,my experience with them is that they do not ride or handle as smooth as the scarab 38's. The cigs are 8' beam as compared to Scarab's 8'9". The Scarabs were always faster as well!!

No dought though, I would love to get a new Larry Smith 38 or 43 built!!

We were talking with Larry about building a 38 for a customer never happened but he is a great guy and is very talented.
www.teamscarab.com
Larry is a stand up guy, and has more knowladge than most on the West Coast.
Unfortunatly you may want to search OSO about a month back for my thread on Costa Mesa CA builders and rigger and the price you pay for a warranty (or lack thereof).
I would Buy a boat from Larry, but have it rigged by someone that see's contracts as more than just paper.

Looks like a real nice deal to me. That thing appears to be in stellar condition. Has 3A's on it? Thing is clean. Love KV's!!
