What is this???
3 Attachment(s)
O.K. I tried this question in The Bilge, but no one knew what it was. I am assuming it is boat related until someone tells me it isn't.
I see these going down the highway all the time on flatbeds. WTF are they? I asked an engeeneer friend of mine when we saw one and he didn't know either. It is about 30 - 40 feet long and about 8-10 feet wide. The gray represents an opening in the back (or front or whatever way it goes). Looks like fiberglass. It looks like it could go in something. Notice the front(?) looks designed to possibly fit over a cab of something. The hole in the back looks like a door or a hatch or something. WTF??? |
Re: What is this???
Looks like an APACHE with a swim step and a cut out for a turbine. :evilb: :D

Re: What is this???

Re: What is this???
Wow great detail work. Could it possible be an underground storage tank?
|
Re: What is this???
Its the new swimming pool offered by Fountain Powerboats; hence the beak that looks like a parrot.

Re: What is this???
Those are Quad coupling's for street sewers . They are installed at road intersections .They used to be concrete ,now they are fiber Glass .The hangover is as in case Storm water gets under it it wont push its way up .

Re: What is this???
Can't be a new boat model- no steps. Doesn't everybody know... a boat won't even move forward without steps. ;)

TTT Got a picture of one going down the interstate. :evilb: Saw it coming, grabbed the cell phone, got to the camera function and rolled down the window... This was the best I could get.

Re: What is this???
The heavy trailer is probally used to grab a backhaul w/ something heavy on board.

Re: What is this???
Does'nt look that heavy & think Brian is correct on that trailer. I'll ask some of my drivers & we will find out exactly what that is. Question....where are they normally spotted ?

Re: What is this???
Supposedly thats what they are. I emailed a pic to one of my drivers & knew exactly what it was. It may be possible they are manufactured close by or are enroute to where thier being delivered. The blades are something like 175' long & that "thing" mounts on the top. The pic I posted was the closest I could find. The front beak (no pun intended) may be for cooling or venting purposes. It looks as if there are holes under the beak.

Re: What is this???
Confirmed, showed the pic to another driver. It is the top of a wind mill but a freakin huge one.

Re: What is this???
They are part of the huge wind generators. I see them all the time. There are several wind farms under construction in this area. It is common to see that part along with the blades and the base being transported around here.

Re: What is this???
Each turbine is approximately 230 feet tall so yes they are BIG!
