how to remove rust stains from vinyl?
 

left my backseat open to help air it out, seat was resting on speaker covers which got some surface rust, now my white vinyl has rust stains on it!! What's the best way to get this out?

I've been using Scale & Stain Remover from the local pool store to remove all kinds of brown (iron) stains from the boat including the brown water stain on the bottom of the boat. Just 1oz into a spay bottle filled with water is enough. Just spray it on and let it sit for about 20 minutes and it will be back to normal.

On the bottom its much better than any instant hull cleaners, doesn't destroy the gel and when you spray it doesn't burn when it blows back on you.

muratic acid just like used for pools ONLY removes rust will not harm vinyl or paint good for rust rings .. brown bottoms also removes scale off s/s "very bad to breath"

I agree 100% just use it in moderation with a small paint brush or Q tip.

Give the Scale and Stain remover a try. It may not work as fast, sometimes takes 20 minutes, but is not as harsh on your gear.

There is a product at Home Depot that you can use specifically for rust called Rust Aid. This stuff is amazing. I sprayed it on rust stains from my sprinkler system, and they just disappeared in about a minute.
