Which Engine Oil?
I pick up my new Sunsation 32SS next week-end (Joe permitting!!). The engines are 525's and I would like to know the oil that will provide the best engine life. Synthetic or is it better to go with Mercruiser?

For a new engine run 25W-40 it came with for 20 hours...then go to a 15W-50 or 20W-50 synthetic. |
Re: Which Engine Oil?
Break it in on mineral oil then change to synthetic. I would run mobil 1 or amsoil.

You can draw your own conclusions as to which is the better oil. |

The 50/50 mix of 20W-50 Redline with M-1 20W-50 V-twin is worth a go I would think. Redline does have a lot of moly in it as well and it is a "slick oil" ...if anything might cause flat-topping I would bet this would be the one to show it most. Additionally, as it is quite "slick" there is less friction and heat. The question that remains is "how slick is too slick"? I don't know the answer... |
