Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
My Father was very close friends with the owner. His name is John Stullupi. He raced a Cigarette named Dillenger the same time my dad raced in 1979. He owned all of the Mega yachts over the years with 007 names. Octo*****, never say never, etc. When I was a kid I was so jelous of his son. He was 12 years old and his father got him a 31 Shadow cat with twin outboards. It was suposed to do over 90 which back then is like 200 now. It was the fastest boat around. (I guess Reggie was only getting started)
The boat is incredible. Everything in it is ultra light weight. The granite and marble are all synthetic which weigh only ounces. That's part of the reason it's so fast. I think they were trying to get some crazy speed like 70 Knots (don't quote me). |

Real cool vidio though.

Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
So Even If It Cruised At 60 M.ph And Handled Great With A Top Speed All Aired Out Of 75 M.p.h For A 140 Foot Boat That Is Unreal :)
Next Thing Is They Will Take The Deisals Out And Put In All Turbine's That Will Save A Lot Of Weight And Bring It To The Tripple Zone . It's Amazing What Money Can Buy And Motovate Someone To Build . Very Nice :) |

Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
I just don't understand why all these Mega's go with water pump drives like jet ski's, the single most inefficient method of propelling a craft through the water.
Ex: my 10' supercharged sea-do with 185 HP, does about 57 MPH. Put that power to weight ratio into a real "surface drive" with prop and it would go well over 100, if you could hold on and keep it in the water. I just wonder what that 140' would do with custom surface drives? |
Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
wow....i saw that boat on the discovery channel or TLC. I wonder what the fuel consumption is at WOT, and how far you can go @ a reasonable but fast cruising speed?
|
Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
66 Knots Is 75.9 Mph And That Was Only At 90 Percent Power.

Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
gotta love it, saw the title and was like, Yeah, its a Millennium 114 or 140
|
Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
Think I will trade in the NT on that boat! I think my Burb will pull it fine! Awesome machine
|
Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH
Ok I got a question. Can my single axle diesel pickup pull this ok? :drink: Its only 2 miles to the ramp and I'll go really slow :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:

Re: 140 ft long and 76 MPH

Wallypower's 118 is a jet drive as well

Also if I recall they used Diesel coupled to jet drives to get on plane then the turbine / arneson was kicked in and pushed the whole deal by itself. Again just my recollection... Found the info... http://www.gentryeagle.com/engine.html "Total, (2) MTU 16V396TB94 diesels each generating 3480 H.P. are coupled to KaMeWa #63 waterjets. The gear boxes are AFBU7755's. In addition there is a diesel fuel burning Lycoming Marine Turbine #TF40 developing 4500 H.P. coupled to an ARNESON surface drive turning a Rolla REXP 5 bladed cleaver. In addition there is a lube oil transfer system, engine alarm system, and fuel management system. Fuel consumption is approximately 328 gals per hour at 45 knots under the MTU's only, giving a range of approximately 1250 nautical miles." |

There has to be a reason for the jet drive.maybe it the gear boxs or converting the rpm down?? |
