I am not an expert on cats yet by any means as I have just owned a 2000 28 Elim high profile for a year now. What I do know is quality, having owned 5 or 6 boats and spending alot of time in the last 40 years boating starting out with my Parents Stevens Dragboat in the 60's. I have been most impressed with the Eliminator boats in general especially the Daytona. It is my first Cat but not my last. Yes, I would like a Skater, but most of us cannot afford a 250K and up boat. I have twin 500EFI's with nose cones, and no extention boxes. My boat has a nice size bed and two setting areas on each side below. It has a ski Locker for storage and a Large cockpit area that seats 6 people with out being two crowded. My wife and I have spent the night on the boat and it has been enjoyable. It rides great and handles rough water better than my 29 Fountain used to. Performance wise, with my wife (100LBS) myself (165LBS) and 120gallons of fuel and misc. gear (life jackets, extra clothes, two anchors,etc.. my boat will GPS out at 97 1/2 MPH. My friend owns a really nice American Offshore and it is nice, Spectre cats have no sleeping accomidations, as neither does Most Skaters.
All colors are in the Gel Coat in Most west coast boats and nobody does it better that Eliminator as quoted in Powerboat over the years. As far as Insurance goes, my coverage is thru Farmers, and it runs $1850.00 year. I tow with a Ford powerstroke 4X4 3/4 ton, but I towed my boat back from California to Oklahoma with a Ford F-150 4X4 (1400 miles)last march. Yes, I am ready to go faster with whipples, but for now My boat does it for me. And their are not many here in Okla. The boat does stand out wherever it goes. I don't think I would ever go back to a Vee. I Feel more confortable and safe in my Cat. Don't let any salesman tell you that cats are dangerous. It all in how you drive them
Anyway thats my $.02
:) :D
