Sold used, therefore no obligation's to do the extra step by law, but everyone's ethics are different. If you feel like you need to help this guy go ahead.....if not, just point him in the right direction of how he sould handle the situation since you know the boat so well, and in my book thats plenty of help!

I am thinking i will pay for the parts to make it right just because i feel i should

I will decide this week after one more talk with his mechanic

OUCH OUCH OUCH and OUCH again! Very tough call, but think of your reputation and how you really feel about the transaction. I'm sure you will come up with some thing that settles okay.

But then again I am slanted towrads Ratmans post. I don't think I would be going back on the seller. Things happen.

Pretty darn big go-fast for is first boat.

If I had bought the boat used and it broke the first time out, I would appreciated ANY help the former owner was willing to give, but woulnd't EXPECT anything, knowing full well, I bought used and took my chances.

As the seller, if I honestly thought the boat was in good running order, without any problems, depending on if I got my asking price or not be willing to help out in some small way to help ease the pain of breaking on the first time out... But like was said, he is a big boy who knew what he was getting into with the age and hours on the motors, who knows what he did to the boat before it broke... So in the end do what makes you feel right. 1K is better than nothing, which is what you owe him...

Caveat emptor.

If you choose to help him out I would make it VERY clear that you didn't have to and you are doing it because you want to. And this will be ONLY time. Last thing you want to do is open up a can of worms. Tough call. Like others ahave said, i would be appreciative of any help from the seller, but I would not expect it.

I've never had a new boat with BIG power like this. But, it seems to me that even a new boat w/600SC's or bigger you are lucky to get 1 year factory warranty on a BIG HP engine like we are talking about!

Any help from a seller, I would be appreciative if I bought a boat (or anything) as is!
