How was boating this weekend?

I was just wondering who else went boating this weekend? We went both days, late in the afternoon, after the baby got up from her nap. H2O was glass smooth, temps. ~75 Deg., I checked out my new Garmin GPSMap76, it's pretty cool! :D
Question, Does any body have/use Garmin's "Lights and Waterways" CD map for their GPSMap 76? What's the resolution like, compared to what comes in the unit from Garmin?
Thanks,
MD

Pretty nice day in Orlando yesterday, around 82, nice living in Florida isn't it :D but the wife had me working around the house

CigDaze 01-21-2002 07:47 AM

It was a picture perfect weekend. We went out both days. You can't ask for a better weekend...We were borderline 80* on both days with nice mild winds enough to make it fun...Burnt a lot of fuel, too. :D

Dean Ferry 01-21-2002 07:53 AM

BD,
Where did you go? We just went up and down the Indian River. I don't go out in the ocean when the baby is aboard. At least, until she learns to swim.
MD :D

skatermike24 01-21-2002 07:56 AM

Hey Nick, you suck, I don't think I like you anymore , I think you should win the "Most hours logged in a boat award" :D :D :D

BillR 01-21-2002 08:38 AM

It was cold.
Took one of our members boat on it's maiden voyage.

Cord 01-21-2002 09:04 AM

Boating up here sucks, man.

CigDaze 01-21-2002 09:07 AM

Hey Dean!
We cruised Tampa bay from east to west and north to south, did some wave smashing in the gulf and hit the intercoastal for lunch, dinner, refreshments, etc...We hit Shell Key once or twice and just had a blast. Thanks for asking...How 'bout yourself. How's the east coast treating you?

Hey Mike, :p :p :p Take That!...LOL!
It's time you get your ass out this way! You'll like it, I swear!
;)

Bill, glad to see some up north are willing to venture out and have some fun. Must have been cool, Uh...I mean cold. :D

Sorry to hear that, Cord :(

BD,
I'm going to put the Velocity back on the trailer to do yearly Maintnance and maybe we can trailer over there some weekend and do some boating! I'd like to check out the Tampa Bay area with someone who knows the area. What do you think? Maybe we can get Skatermike to come over to? :D
MD

CigDaze 01-21-2002 09:57 AM

Dean,
I think that would be great. I'm always looking forward to meeting new members and I am always up for showing anyone around. Mike's been talking about coming over sometime in the near future as well. It won't be long before it's once again time to organize a little OSO get-together. :D ;)
I'll also be doing some maintenance on the boat soon. Better to get that done before things get back to full-swing! I just can't seem to find a bad weekend for down-time! ;) :D

CigDaze 01-21-2002 10:01 AM

Sorry to hear that, Mattyboy! :(
So how's greenwood Lake these days? I grew up in Vernon, NJ and Greenwood Lake was where my dad kept our boat and we did all our boating. I remember it starting to get too overcrowded when we sold that boat many years ago(1992-93, I think). We used to describe weekends at the lake as "Boiling Water." :D

Too Funny, Troutly! :D

Dean Ferry 01-21-2002 10:07 AM

BD,
Sounds good, Maybe after the Miami Boat show we could start planning something. My Father-In-law and his wife live over there so, I might have to include them in the weekend planning, and we'll have to get Mike motivated to go as well, (Just Kidding Mike, don't be blasting by me in that Skater, please!!!) So let's start working on a OSO meet after the Miami Boat show.
MD
Troutly,
Hopefully those of you who can't boat, are snowmobiling instead!

Sounds good to me , when is the Miami show?, I'll drum up some guys from Orlando. I was gonna go out this weekend but I lost a trim pump motor so I was working on that yesterday.

Dean Ferry 01-21-2002 10:40 AM

Mikeee,
The Miami boat show is Feb. 13 Wed. thru the 17, Sunday, I think. Are either one of you guys going? I think we might drive down for Saturday, just the day.

MrCIG 01-21-2002 10:44 AM

Was down in Stuart boating with some friend on Friday and Saturday what a great way to break up the winter. Now back in Chi-Town looking at snow :(

CigDaze 01-21-2002 10:54 AM

Sounds Great Dean and Mike about after the show!

We're thinking about making a day trip down to Miami or staying one night at the most. I don't want to take time off this early in the year.

Dean Ferry 01-21-2002 10:57 AM

Nick sounds good, I'll E-mail you from home tonight and we can start planning this trip and maybe the Miami show too.
MD

seanclong 01-21-2002 10:57 AM

MD -- The boating was non-existant here.

I have the same GPS as you and I also have the CD for it. I just got it and haven't had a chance to really play around with it. But from what I saw though, the resolution is quite a bit better. The thing for me, though, is the fact that ALL the lights and waypoints are on the CD. Also, you can use your PC for naming the waypoints and building routes then load them into your GPS.

Sean :)

Baja Daze,

CigDaze 01-21-2002 11:20 AM

I'll look forward to it, Dean!

Bob,
That sounds cool. Keep me posted when the time nears. It's rare we're not out and about so It'll be cool to hook-up and hang out! :)

skatermike24 01-21-2002 11:40 AM

Sounds good to me to, lets get a little OSO gathering going here.

mattyboy 01-21-2002 11:43 AM

Baja,
greenwood lake is doing fine, right now it is drained down 10ft for weed control, and what water is in it is frozen stiff, on weekends the water gets real big for a lake, get a good pounding in my 16' donzi
the lake goes from kyaks to 40'gets insane on weekends

mattyboy

CigDaze 01-21-2002 12:39 PM

Thanks MattyBoy!

loosecannon22 01-21-2002 12:54 PM

Billy

Dean Ferry 01-21-2002 01:14 PM

Wardey 01-21-2002 04:56 PM

Yep...I was out. Took the son wakeboarding!!!! A beautiful day.

FloridianSon 01-21-2002 06:16 PM

Jacksonville was all right crab shack even better bugs we great I should have changed out the plugs though had a little high speed miss but she got me home again.

cuda 01-21-2002 08:25 PM

Just got my Formula back Friday, and took it to Lake Seminole for some prop testing. I don't want to put it in salt until I get the closed cooling installed. Spent Sunday at the St Pete Boat Show......what a dissapointment! This used to be a great show years ago.

loosecannon22 01-21-2002 11:24 PM

yeah I made it out, but I had to change a tire first, which had frozen nuts and spinning studs. then my spare needed a plug, then the battery in the truck was dead. after all of that I needed to go out and run off some steam. I ran from the Inlet harbor to halifax a couple of times to get the stress out and see how fast I could get that thing going. I then went fishing with a friend, caught nothing but a buzz, had dinner at the Inlet harbor and did a quick ocean run just for fun and made it home. another no problem day on the water. I will try to go out again next weekend. maybe you can make it then?
