Motion owners check your tanks !!
Unsure if all are like this or just certain years etc...
I have a buddy of mine with a 35 unsure of the year an early 2000's i believe and he just found out his fuel tanks are similar to skaters and are fiberglassed in the boat...NOT A SEPERATE TANK. The new ethanol fuel is giving him much grief as it is softening his tanks. Just a heads up to help avoid the mechanical nightmare he's been going thru. He's now deciding between installing bladders or installing new tanks.

I have had problems for years. He needs to remove the sending unit, presure wash the bottom of the tank and vacuum it out. The right way is to cut the lid off and epoxy the whole tank. You can check to see if your having a problem by removing the fuel fiter and see if there are gold color pieces of epoxy. It looks like strips of varnish when it peels. It is the worst design in the world. Once you fix it right you should be ok.

There's a whole lot of info on ethanol and 'glass fuel tanks over at a the Boat US website - they've actually got a separate forum set up just for ethanol issues. www.boatus.com

Skater has always used this desing without much issue until the ethonol came out. My 1987 24' has built in tanks with no problems.
