Re: Any GM CRATE MOTOR sellers on the board?
I'm a Canadian GM dealer. Let me know exactly what you are looking for, we'll see if our canadian price is cheaper than U.S price! Looking for the 620 HP package or 720 ?

I just got priced two very different set of prices to rebuild my 420's for my F311. Both shops that have been in the business for quite a while. I have excellent references for both. In / Out was quoted $2,000 + full rebuild to spec, a cam bump, new valves, springs, balanced etc. Whole ball of wax. One rebuild was for $20,000 the other for $12,000 cdn. (this guy I personally know). The first offers a one season warranty but is still pretty pricy the other is an out the door and if there is a problem with the motor we will discuss as it is a race motor. Both will be run but not dynode and tested previous to installation and then installed and gone over. Both guys know there stuff. Question - How much for 420’s crated with warranty from GM? Are these similar to the ’89 merc version with the Crane roller top end? Would you forward a link on any information related to GM? I am out of Alliston. Trevor |
Re: Any GM CRATE MOTOR sellers on the board?
Last I checked, GM had no warranty on crate engines used in a marine application.

Thanks for the quick response everyone.
Jeff32, what was your cam selection, I assume roller and final choice of piston / compression? Did you just clean up the heads or do a valve job? Trevor |

Re: Any GM CRATE MOTOR sellers on the board?
2 Attachment(s)
Just to throw this in the pot .... I have 2 502 MPI MAGS ..that have been freshened ( or in the process) ... we also added 500 EFI cams and Crane Gold Roller Rockers ....Also new forged pistons ... Also the ECM will be upgraded .... These are complete drop in motors ( no Exhaust) ....
Dean has first right to these motors if he still wants them .. I had hoped everything would be done by Sept 1 but it hasnt happened ... We did fire up the #1 motor last Friday and sounds pretty bad with the 500 cam ...maybe #2 complete by Oct ......8250.00 each .... If you need more info .... Re: Any GM CRATE MOTOR sellers on the board?
I would be interested in knowing whos cam and part number. I have been informed that 420hp is about it for these engines so that is why I am keen on knowing what the internals are.
