Re: When to winterize?
Okay, Ill skip to the point considering this thread put some people on the edge.
How many people with boats for sale winterize and put the boat away in storage as opposed to shipping the boat to a warmer climate? When I was brokering boats for 7 years in CA I had numerious calls to transport the boats west for the cold season and not let the boat de-value in storage. The 2 questions clients would ask were: 1. Will the boat be stored inside or outside? 2. Can you sea trial the boat in fresh water, I dont want it in salt. At the time the brokerage I worked for had outdoor storage and sea trialed in the Pacific. I am now back to the business of brokering high line toys and In three weeks I have a climate controlled showroom opening in Lake Havasu City AZ. and have worked out a seasonal transport and storage contract for those looking cater to the winter buyer. No winterizing, no saltwater, no zero degree gel coat cracking weather, no 100 degree sun beating down on your boat, no 4 months of wiping the snow off your boats for sale sign. no pre owned sales tax (in state), and runway close. I would like to hear opinions of what sellers would like to see in a west coast brokerage for seasonal sales. I will not post the new company name or phone numbers as that will come later when I pay OSO for advertising as should be done. Now I am just fishing for opinions. Thank you again to all and sorry for bringing up the snow so early! |
