this is just a thought but doesn't the CG keep reports on an incident like this, if they had a database by hull or registration number, when some one was buying or trying to get CG certification it would pop up and atleast give the buyer some info,
sorta like that carfacts service done with a car vin number, lets you know if it has been in a crash or fire? I think we've expose some slime under the rock!

Red Stripe, that is a very good idea. Posting a picture of the damage under a new 24' Concord for sale @ traderonline.

Anyone who would pop up the "idiots" ad is more than likely going to see the next ad dipicting the damage.

And special thanks to OSO for handling the situation regarding the OSO ad.

I too sent an e-mail to Traderonline - basically explaining the situation, sending him a copy of the link to this thread, and my personal opinion of what I thought. I think Traderonline DOES have a responsibility (to some degree) to guard against false advertisement. At least OSO had the guy modify his ad - Traderonline should do the same.

And as for that Scarab the guy had for sale: If he embellished the condition of Cord's boat, who the hell knows what fairy tales he told about the Scarab?

How can Traderonline be held responsible? Should they inspect everyboat advertized on their site? For that matter should every classified publication inspect everything listed in their adds? I think not. This is a "buyer beware" capatalistic society. The problem lies with the dishonest and fraudulent people who take advantage of those who do not know better. Like it or not that is the way it is.

The positive side is that there are places like this where we can find the help we need.
