Read somewhere recently too that GM will be replaceing the 8.1truck engine (meaining stop manufacturing) somewhere between 2008-2010. Don't recall what the replcement would be.

I have one of the long blocks from that project, and a couple shorts... Shame they dropped it, it is an awesome runner
