Low Water Pickup Shallow water
 

how can you run your boats in shallow water when you have low water pick up with out getting mud or sand sucked in. will transome water pckup help or just not run in shallow water. I see alot of boats that beach sometime and wonder are they just shutting off motor before beaching or what is the technique?

I have the cure for you. I did this to a cat in shallow water lakes. Install side pickups for off plane running only. I used a three way valve to shut off the low water pickup and pull water from the side of the hull from a water discharge type through hull fitting. I had the fitting about 6" below the water line at idle. VERY important, do not forget to switch back before you plane off.
