NEED Advise On Scarabs

Hey everyone.
I'm thinking of gettin a 31' scarab excel (89-91) with 454's. If anyone has owned one, I'd like to hear from you...is it a good hull/bad hull ?, did they have any structural issues ?, how do they feel in medium ocean swell and what else shoud I be aware of on these perticular models??
Thanks for the advise!!

:D

Have a Marine Survey and get the transom checked out with a moisture meter. Alot of scarabs are wet in the transom. Get a good deal because there are alot of scarabs for sale and the value on them has dropped alot since they are no longer in production. Except that I read an article and I think eliminator is bringing back the 43'. Larry Smith leased the mold.

Good Luck

Speaking in an unbiased position

There great boats. And,,,as usual your down to fiberglass and stringers. I would always try to have a survey done to check for moisture reguardless of who builds it.

I haven't heard of any stories about bulk heads or stringers coming apart. you'll have the usual backs of seats with wood rot ect and things like that.

A friend of mine had a 97, which I'm sure is a little different animal, but never the less held up good in the rough stuff. It was solid and stable in all speeds.

I personally think there great boats and a good bang for the buck.

Good luck on whatevere your decisison might be. :D

Thanks guys....
I'm interested in a 31' or 34' excel. I'm going to take my time over the next few months in finding one. There seems to be quit a few good deals. I was in 2 scarabs this summer, both 31' ....they ran awsome, I was really impressed.
All the boats I found thus far are in the states, would the owners find a marine surveyor for me, or shgould I try to find one on my own?
