I would ask yourself this question:

What is there to keep you from doing it?

If you cant give yourself a good reason, jump in.

At this point the only thing keeping me from doing it is blowing x amount of dollars to get no return in profits I guess. But there would only be one way to find out I suppose.

Couldn't agree more! I was a DIEHARD snowmobiler. I was always tweaking sleds. Clutching mainly(which I enjoyed) and bolt on stuff like reeds, pipes, billet heads, etc. I really liked dialing them in.

Decided to start a part time business a few years ago. Figured I'd have to start out part time and see how it went. After three years sales were up dramatically, my name was getting out and I had a good reputation. Well, after three years I also HATED snowmobiles. My hobby was now dragging me down. I owned a brand new sled every year since 1995. I haven't owned one in 5 years now.

Thanks for all the input guys. Its looking like this could be a double edged sword, having its perks , and its downsides. Guess Ill have to keep thinking about it, and see what happens.

He's saying once your hobby becomes your job it CAN take the fun out of it.

This isn't getting dumb drunk bimbos to go down on each other while you tape it!

You have to look at the big picture. Yes shooting boating vids sounds great. Hell yeah just stand around, do some boating and party like I always do and get some footage. Not that simple. Now you're looking for all the great shots. Afraid you're going to miss some. Can't ACTUALLY boat and party cause you're afraid to miss a shot. Etc, etc. You see where I am going.

I am not saying it will take the fun out of it. Just be careful because it could! Just my $.02

Don't let me discourage you. Just reminding you to look at the BIG picture, not just the fun parts!

Perhaps a better question to ask on OSO would be for a few suggestions for a boating related business that would be successful. Ask the members of OSO what their needs are and fill them. Take the suggestions and opinions and run with them. just my .02
