Congratulations, you're in. Because, you ARE looking to fight. You WANT a pissing match and you are a liar. You know there will be more than 20 boats in KW. You know there will be an equal number of boats from my class in both Worlds, and you know there are going to be many "TRUE" Offshore fans in KW. I would imagine those who are going will take offense at you insinuations.

But that's what you and a select group do. You offend. Me, the fans and particularly anyone who thought racing a boat offshore might be a good idea.

I have loyalties for sure. But you would not understand them. I'm loyal to all those men and women who have ever put on a vest and crossed that start line, whatever style of boat they were in. Whatever letters made up their organization. If you think I'm defending SBI/APBA you miss a much bigger point. Of course you do.

My "Top Ten" reference was just a figure of speech. But maybe if the real "Top Ten" were outed, (so to speak) it would be a step in the right direction. SQ

SORRY BUT WHEN YOU FLOAT A BOAT OVER THE STARTING LINE AND THEN CALL YOUR SELF WORLD CHAMPIONS IN USV OR WHAT EVER YOU CALL IT, I lost all respect for that group and the OL is stuck on the trailer,can't race. and yes I raced before and got f xck out of my 3rd place trophy :mad: and you guys give him a w.c. so yeah if you want to see the best go to DESTIN and I hope I can make it :D

Strip, you thinking of racing? OPA is offering free racing in Destin. No registration fees, no entry fees and at least a $25,000 purse probably much more.

All OPA classes share the purse equally.

Actually pretty cool here Bruce. Just getting fed up with the misinformation and "RACER" talk. I just don't get what you are trying to accomplish. Do you want to be the guy who killed a part of Offshore? It's not the Bloods and Crips. It's guys racing boats where it works for them to race at this point in time. Ron has a vendetta I get that. But you other guys need to think about what you are doing. SQ

:confused: You mean racin and havin fun? The fans see it. I was in KW last year with our immediate group (of about 30) and NONE of us were goin back to KW this year. The pits were a ghost town and if there was any side by side racing it was at the beginning cuz after that, all we saw was follow the leader. I choose not to watch certain nascar tracks because of that. I also choose to not watch certain boat races because of that. You can get mad at the other series all you want but the fans are not stupid. We know good racing when we see it .... or dont see it ... whatever.

Im sure you mean well .. as do the rest ... I revised my earlier post because you are right. There are racers in both places as there will be fans in both places... but so far .. your the only one bringin agendas into this thread. United WE race .... do you? :bunny:

Who cares about the racers :rolleyes: I'm goin on vacation. Last year sucked because of the Hurricane. I have been to both places if you are going to have fun and do things KW will be awesome. Destin will have more race boats though ( if the hurricanes don't come again)
We had a big group go diving in KW 2 years ago it was awesome. I had more fun with the poker run boats pullin in hangin out with them, drinkin and checkin the boats out. The races are just an added feature. :drink:

Thats why they make different flavors of ice cream and beak boats. Go where ever you want to go, I'm sure both places will have fun :D

Here we go again, I was at Key West the year your talking about, and we didnt have enough races in to qualify either. Sounds kinda foolish to me, If I ran a race event I would try and get as many participants as possible. as far as the OL B.S. all there interested in is ambushing Fountain to steal his thunder. Media Master (OL) ran P-1&won, I didnt hear anyone complain, I race with the OPA we have every knida boat under the sun racing,no OL's though unless you have one you would like to enter? Maybe someday there will be a world series of sorts were all the orginizations race at one final event for the year but it doesnt seem likely. if ya really want to get to the grass roots of it, there was one individual that caused all the caios and seperation. unfotunately the bottom line is it is what it is and everyone has to make the best of it. best of luck and i wish safe boating to all involved in both places. if anyone's looking for me i will be at the better venue. im going to THE RACES for my vacation

Those of us going to Key West wish the best and of course safety to those chosing to race in Destin. I personally wish there wasnt a choice and we raced at one location, but until associations quit making demands from the sanctioning body and making ultimatums we will always have to make these decisions on where to race. What a shame. I grew up watching Mr Copeland and Mr Ware running the Popeyes boat from the age of 8 and now that I do this as my hobby, I always look forward to shaking Mr Ware's hand and thanking him for inspiring me and giving me a dream to work for in my life as I grew older. I was able to thank Mr Copeland in NO(2002)

But to sound like Mr Scott last year, due to my sponsor obligations and with them demanding TV, I will be racing in Key West.

Race organizations aside, boat counts aside, affiliations aside - Key West is where the Worlds are and ought to be. It would be great to have everyone there, in one place at one time.

For those saying the real races are here or the true worlds are there, it's great that you have such devotion to your respective organization, but to belittle the other is not necessary.

Now, when's BS going to race Miklos, mano-e-mano?? :D

Wow, Racegirl. I'm not worthy or qualified (mentally or physically) to go toe to toe with you. You are correct I have an agenda. I don't believe it's a good idea to diminish the efforts of the people who will be racing in Key West. They are serious dedicated "Racers". That was and is my only point. Destin could be more fun and I could be racing there next year myself. I never said Destin or OSS was bad or KW and SBI/APBA was better. I simply take offense when fellow racers put the sport down. Hey Poo ... you must read between the lines way better than me cuz this is Bruces first post on this thread ... it says some nice things about KW .. said nice things about the guys racin there ... I dont see anything negative about SBI .... His second post was pretty much the same .... Hmmm ... so .... I dont where you got the negativity .. at least not in this thread. :confused: :bunny:

and by the way ... Nobody hates KW ... everybody loves KW ... be cool as hell if everyone ran together like they did in 2004 .. but again .. dont get mad at us if we arent goin there ... or mad that I posted my observations from last year. I know Im not the only one that was disappointed... and DONT call me a cheerleader ... I dont have that outfit :p :drink:

2004 is the way it should be. It's the only time I've ever been to KW - and after that, anything less would be a dispointment.
I've been to many races, but after being in KW 2004, I'd rather go to the races in Destin (this year), unless KW will be the same as it was when I was there. Plus I got the chance to meet more people - that I can remember - RG herself, Alan the putz, Thrillseeker, RonP and many others.
I wish they could put it all back together in KW. But, If I'm Going, I'm going for a race - I have friends I want to support (Glassdave, Popeye's (Stan), and all the OPA guy's) and thier teams.
If I can work it out, I'll more than likely opt for Destin this year.

Sorry You didnt come to mind as I wrote that post As I dont know you :D . The Cheerleaders in offshore sadly are all male . You'd have to have been reading the milling area for a few years to know which Cheer leaders are hooked up with each club . Or in our case A sanctioning body . LOL :evilb:

If 2004 sucked, it wasnt the racers fault. We were just happy to all be together.

We did have a great time though.

and for the record, 02 was the last year KW/ APBA had 100 plus boats.
SBI was in New Orleans for the worlds

I think Poo was over generalizing a bit on 04' sucking.

Was it good? Yes. But being in the same town under 3 different banners led to visible seperation. Not saying anyone was right or wrong. Hell, I had the time of my life. The absolute time of my life. But like Poo, I have a vision of how great it would be if eveyone was together. Not just there together.

Destin and KW are both going to be good this year. Sadly, neither will be great.

PS - 03' KW sucked. So did OB despite eveyone's best efforts there. Oh, what could have been..... :(

We the racers need to stop bashing the past and start focusing on the future. The past is the reason why we are always at each others throat. Lets keep this thread positive for the fans and us racers alike, and let the Worlds in KW or Destin take their place in history.
