The Real Deal
Found a talented engine builder creating HP for the average joe like me. Tyler Crockett Marine worked some magic on our stock 454 MAG. I would like to share the experience. Called Tyler Crockett Marine on Wednesday, September 6 and asked if he could squeeze our 2000 Checkmate 259 Convincor into his schedule this month for his 454MAG update. This is a product I have had my eye on for some time as it is the featured product on his website.(cam, head work, exhaust, etc). He said drop the boat by towards the end of the week and we should have it done by the following Friday. I dropped the boat off on September 8. They told me to call on Wednesday the 13th to see how things were progressing. I called and talked with Tyler on the 13th with some engine noise in the background. He told me my engine was on dyno as we speak and would be ready by Friday the 15th. He mentioned we could try some props out on Port Huron if I wanted. I drove up Friday and took the boat for a spin with Tyler. The boat was dropped off with a bone stock 454MAG spinning a 23 Mirage Plus at 5100rpms at 65.0mph GPS. The boat ran 72.3mph (same handheld GPS that we always use) at 5000rpm spinning a labbed 26 4 blade yesterday at about 4:30PM EST. Tyler has surpassed by expectations. He and his staff delivered on time with a product that really works. If anyone is looking to repower or upgrade what you have Tyler Crockett and his team should be on your short list. Tyler Crockett is the real deal.
