Hartford Champ Boat Race
We attended the first annual (3 year contract) Hartford Champ Boat races over the weekend and saw many old friends.....
Special thanks to the Simburgers, Duke Waldrop, Don Jenkinson, Wyatt Nelson, and the Bill Seebold for your hospitality and time. We had a GREAT time.
The racing was phenomenal with a world class fleet and amazingly tight racing around the 2/3 mile course...... While Terry Rinker pulled off a miraculous 6th consecutive victory....it was no cakewalk..... Although, Tim Seebold succombed early to mechanical problems, first Shaun Torrente, and eventually Wyatt Nelson gave the Rinker/Blackhawk team all they could ask for in the 50 lap final. the racing is tight, incredibly fast.........and features turns that you don't believe even after you've seen them.
These guys are super talented and REALLY get it on.
The crowd was on its feet for the whole event....and able to see the entire track from great viewpoints on both sides of the Connecticut River...... Great racing...one class....and no confusing sidelights.
This event is coming back next year..and I strongly suggest that all northeastern performance boating fans...put it on your calendar of MUST events.

I agree, the turns were awesome!!! The Rinker boat was just wicked coming out of the turns, you could see it jump when he came back on the throttle. I'm only sorry I missed Saturdays testing and qualifying. This will be a yearly must do for my family. Next year we'll take the boat and raft up Fri-Sun.
This type of event is just what Hartford needs. I was VERY impressed with set up of the site. For a first year event the promoters did a great job.

Re: Hartford Champ Boat Race
Did Torrente have mechnical problems again? That kid is super fast, but they can't seem to keep the engine together long enough to finish. Rinker wins again! Impressive. BTW, what happen to some of the drivers in recent years like Bowden and others? With no disrespect to Rinker's accomplishments, the races now just aren't like they were 5-6 years ago when the field was loaded with world-class drivers. It still takes a lot of talent to win six straight.
