i won't be there this weekend with the velocity, out of town sorry, but that leaves the single engine class open for competition. If you can move the run to next week i can make it!!!

Will I have any problems putting in at Goose Bay with a 36 foot Cat?
Is there another choice with out going all the way around to Tims?

How about Smallwood State Park?

I am concerned about low tides.

Thanks again.
Shawn

Goose bay should be fine for you. Many large boats put in there. I am putting in at Tims 2, but that ramp would probably be too small for your boat. Others are launching at Goose bay and driving down, its about 12 miles away.

Smallwood is a good ramp also....just follow the markers leaving the ramp.

Monsoon is not going to make it this weekend. Too many irons in the fire. Have fun everyone, and be safe.

Yup, what he said. Also, FYI, you have to be out of there by dark.

Is Mattawoman deep enough? I have not been up there since last summer, but I have dinged up props in Mattawoman Creek.

Leaving the ramps you usually have at least 4' for around 100 yards, then it gets deeper. Look at Sweden Point Marina to the left. Big sailbotes in there. The Mattawoman is plenty deep. Ever been back to the "Sand Dune"? I've seen 50' yachts back there.

What did it take to win the fastest, single engine v, last year??? I want to know... because it might not be worth our time to put new plugs in the motor for this weekend :evilb: . I guess if the Velocity was the only competition, we can coast through the gun. Let's see what everyone has, it is the end of the season, what better time? By the way... the pole will NOT be in the boat (it's too cold for proper dance attire :evilb: )

Last year it was Matt with his Velocity.....think it ran 110?? John Olivo ran his Checkmate over 100 last year.....but he moved. Not sure what else is there in your class

i have been told the checkmate will be there, so it looks like he is the man to beat if thay can keep a belt on the fountian, there are also some other 100+ v bottoms in the area to watch out for

Crap.... I can't make it. I am coaching my daughter's soccer team and we have a make-up game @ 9am. Oh well, my daughter is more important than smelling testosterone and racing fuel early Saturday morning.

That was before dialing in the air/fuel ratio. Also in "Poker Run" trim, with small prop, luggage, cooler, and STRIPPER POLE. Still working out a couple issues :( . However we should be ready for Saturday :D ! Let's hope for some cool, dry weather, with about 10-15 mph breeze.
Come on down Rich, we always come to see you in the Spring!!!

I'll be there bright and early sat. morning with my 12 mph slower boat.Splashing the boat at leesylvania around 7:30am and heading down to Tims 2.
Tell the girls to put on some chap stick so they don't get stuck on the stripper pole since it will be a little nipply. :D

Talked to Olivo (checkmate) he plans on running on low boost with pump gas and a little squeeze. He thinks with his new 600 in motor he should not have a problem running 105 or so. Frank got the bugs worked out on his new STV today, im still trying to talk him into going as well. Martin is just gonna flip a coin to decide what boat to bring. Susan said if i bring the Obsession she will go, so i guess ill be in the Talon unless she can hitch a ride on Randys Fountain. Every day I check the weather it gets one or two degrees warmer. 60s would be nice.

Tell Frank to trailer that STV to fairview. Then again, seems to be a little competition in twin engine V.......maybe he should bring the hustler??

Not sure about the actual drivers meeting, but I know we have never started at 8am. As long as you are there by 8am, that should be fine. Jim and I are going to be there around 7:15-7:30.

What are the requirements to participate in the run? Who/where do we need to register? Hopefully the boat will be ready, and the weather will cooperate. :D

dreamboater 10-13-2006 09:28 AM

Re: radar run on the Potomac

You just need to be at Fairview/Tims 2 Restaraunt at 8am. In years past, there was a drivers meeting going over the course and safety precautions. Its going to be cold!!! It should be calm in the morning 5mph west winds, although turning windy in the afternoon.

I just talked to Rich.

Frank ran 98.1 with this 32 Hustler.
Rich ran 98.2 with his 37 Active Thunder for the Fastest Twin Vee-Hull Bragging Rights.

Re: radar run on the Potomac

What a good time...hopefully more boats next year. A lot of impressive numbers yesterday. 2 Single engine V-hulls running over 100!! Jim ran 125.something with his 28 Skater, Charlie had motor issues but still ran 122+ with his 28. Butch ran 140.5 with his 25 Eliminator!!!!!! 36 Skater with big power had motor issues but still made 2 passes at 140.
