Classic...

Not offshore, but still one mean ride.
On Monday I had the opportunity to go out in a gold cup race boat named Impshi. Impshi was built in 1924-1929 and is now powered by an Innovation Marine 600. 80+ speeds...and yes, it has 5 steps and turns on a dime. I would like to thank Mr. Mark Mason for the ride. Enjoy the pictures, though they do not do the boat any justice. |

Re: Classic...
Some history of the boat according to Mark:
"Her name is Egyptian and it means Go!! Go!!! Go!!! It's a slang word which is often yelled at taxi drivers. Horace Dodge named it in 1925.. Rumor has it that the Dodge family cruised the Mediteranian on their 258 foot yacht the DELPHINE and came home with this name." |

Here is a pic of its sistership, THE HORNET. She is stained a dark ebony and varnished rather than painted as IMPSHI. It is currently without power and is for sale.

Thant boat comes to Mount Dora I believe.. Never knew what it had for power, but it moves pretty well..
I'll have to try and trade him a ride in a Donzi for a ride in it next year :) :) |
Re: Classic...
Mark has also put rolls royce engines in his boats. At 1800 rpm, you are cruising!

Re: Classic...
Mark sure has some beautiful boats! A few years back I was on Winni late in the season and he was out in the Rolls Royce powered Gold Cup boat. The workmanship was stunning. Very talented man.

Re: Classic...
Around the 400k range
The boats are made in Turkey with Mark's guidance. The woodwork is unbelievable. |
