HUNT POWERS ARPRO TO HOME WIN, BRITS ON TOP OF THE WORLD!
A weekend of spectacular and dramatic action in the Powerboat P1 British Grand Prix ended in glory for the British husband and wife combination of Mike Shelton and Jackie Hunt with a much deserved race victory and with it the SuperSport Grand Prix title for Hampshires racing duo. This result has strengthened their second place in the world championship and they now breath down the necks of leaders Ocean Dragon. With one event remaining the title is most definitely there for the taking.
Whilst the action behind them was fast, furious and literally flying, the twin Mercury engines of the American Dragon boat powered the British title contenders away from the pack and onto an emphatic victory. The diminutive Hunt appeared to be relishing the bruising conditions as the rough seas took their toll on the field including several of the leading contenders. Amongst these was Exeter-based Ocean Dragon Racing who had a difficult race, but recovered well in the later stages to take fourth on the day and in the Grand Prix and maintain its championship lead by just 30 points!
In only its second ever outing, the British SuperSport wild card entry of Team Sunseeker piloted by Andy Wilby and Gavin Brown finished the second leg with an impressive second place and third overall in the SuperSport class. These podium finishes are further proof that in next years championship Sunseeker will be a leading contender.
