Mercruiser Jet Drive
 

Didn't want to hijack another thread but an older Checkmate Jet boat was mentioned,brought back some old memories. In the early 70's we were a Checkmate dealer and bought some of their Jetmates, mostly with Berkely or Jacuzzi pumps. But we bought 2 with the Mercruiser jet pump. Anyone remember them? Short lived project that Merc would maybe like to forget,but we actually sold 2 of them, wonder if any are still around? :cool:

Never knew that Mercury offered that. I have a '77 Kona with a Berkely.

I must be old but I remember them. Didn't sell many, I believe it was called the Jet 400.

What about the ouboard with a jet insead of a prop? Did Merc make any of them or was that only Yamaha?

I herd that merc even made a snowmobiale, yea I herd of the merc jet but never saw one either

While we are on the subject of obscure Merc products,does anyone know what happened to the 100 or so Merc PWC's that were actually produced and tested about 10-12 years ago before they bailed out? We had actually signed on a dealer but they never followed thru with the introduction. Rumor has it a few made it into the hands of project employees, but cannot confirm that.
