Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
When you finish destroying the SeaDoo, there is a sweet little 13 Fantasy up in Grand Haven with a 70 outboard on it. If you decide to get it, we will all pitch in and put the cameras and recorders on it. That way we can win some dough on AFV!! :D

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
If it makes you feel any better:
Last summer, I was heading donw Eureka Rd, right in front of Home Depot. Guy pulls out in brand new, waxed H2, nice set of rims, etc. Has a little 10' at the most, tilting dump type trailer behind him loaded up with bags of play sand on a skid. He makes the left turn a round on divided type highway and goes to light. Light turns green, he takes off, trailer unlocks and goes up in the air, and he dumps his whole load. He looks back in his mirror after going 50 or so yards, slams it in reverse backs up fast, jackknives the trailer into the side of the H2, blowing a tire. Funniest sh!t I've seen in a long time. |
Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
I sold that hummer after that happened!

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
oh man.. this has me rolling.. I have seen plenty of people do the same exact thing...
The only question I came up with, and someone else said it... why where you towing 2 PWC's with a freightliner? A bit overkill isnt it :D :drink: |

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
I'm glad my pain entertains so many! It's incredible, since I was a kid this is how it always went. Never just 1 incident. Always 3 or at a time.
The worst part. While putting it back on the trailer I had a couple people that wanted to help. When you do something like this, they automatically think you are a complete and total moron and give you all kinds of advice. Then they talk to you like you have never done anything like this in your life. The one guys says. "Once you put it in the water, make sure you put a ripe on it and tie it to the dock". Then I'm in the truck and they all want to guide me, they are standing there waving their hands directing me. Meanwhile, I can barely see them. Their blocking traffic like "watch out for this guy"! Then the guy wants to show me how to tie the rope. I got more advice. Because I already felt like a jerk, all I could do was stand there and take it and thank them. |
Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
Hey, just wait till you're out on the ski and some douche in a 20 foot Bayliner tells you to get a "real" boat

Great story!

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
Imagine if some of these same witnesses are at the ramp in the future when you come pullin' in with the Sportchassis and the cat behind you.
I'm picturing a scene from "War of the Worlds". :evilb: :evilb: Seriously though Gino. Most of us are just laughin' at your misfortune and not really pokin' fun. I've had much bigger (size and $ lost) boating related incidents happen to me at a ramp, but don't share the enthusiasum you have in making them any more public than they already are. If no one is injured, it just becomes another funny story. I commend you for your lack of shame and embarrassment !! But, please do be careful. :drink: |

Gino, my brother-in-law makes these shirts. Not sure why I didn't think of it before, but if anyone needs one it's you. PM me your address and I'll send you one.

Gino, When I see you at the runs I am always envious, but when I read your stories I'm thankful for being me. Thanks for keeping us all entertained

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
I think we should have a new thread. "The closest you can come to a Gino tale!"
Like, One time, with one of my old boats, we got back to the ramp. I ran up and got the pickup and trailer, backed it down into the water. My dates roommates boyfriend had taken the boat back out to load it on the trailer. I am standing at the front of the trailer, guiding him, it's walking back and forth 'cause it's a single engine, and when he gets just on the bunks, he hammers it full throttle to finish loading it. The wheel is still turned, the boat jumps sideways and lands on the fenders sideways, straddling them. I dive under the dock to keep from being killed, and he just looks at me and says, "What happened?" I jumped up on the dock, into the boat, and back off the throttle, still wide open with no prop in the water, turned off the key. Could have killed him. $3800 worth of damage. Never got a dime. Never let him on a boat with me again. I know this is lame compared to "GINO, KING OF THE HAPPENINGS", and I'll try to remember more. Now, Let's Top Gino, (if you dare to try)!! :D :evilb: :D |
Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
Gino are you blond :drink:

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
actually I was just thinking that it takes a big man to be able to poke fun of himself, like others said we are laughing with you not at you. On the other hand I know someone who will remain nameless that can't take a joke about even the smallest thing, so your attitude is extremely refreshing.

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
My moto is....
"If it has tits wheels or propellors you are eventually going to have a problem with it." |
Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
Like Donna said you must be one helluva guy to come clean with that, Me personally would have left the ski sitting in the lot drove strait home and reported it stollen. But I like your attitude, you've got Moxie, whatever that is.

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
Where has Gino been? He didn't start pilot school or handgliding lessons did he?

Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
I have had two close stories.
Years ago had a seadoo and a wave runner. The ramp was only about a mile from the condo and was never over 25 mph. My brother and I didnt use tie downs, just put the pin through the hole in the front of the wave runner. About a block from home I noticed the wave runner getting ready to pass us on the passenger side of the truck. Let me tell you that thing was faster on the street than it was on the water. Im glad it was a POS and only 50 bucks to repair. Second story. I was at party cove at the lake of the ozarks in dads boat getting the usual daddys boat comments but from a one armed body builder. Told him, dont you wish your daddy had a boat like this? Next thing you know Ive got a one armed body builder swimming after our boat and trying to get in to fight us. We had to beat this guy with a fender to get him off the side of the boat. Oh yeah, also got in fight with a guy in a wheelchair at a strip club but Ill save that one for now. PS didnt know he was in a wheelchair at first (it was dark and my back was too him when it all started). |
Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
Hey Gino, consider yourself LUCKY....I still have you beat! :drink:
|
Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
Im thinking you need a hobby that involves alot of padding.. ALOT of padding.
I gotta agree with Chrisk and Rainmn.. Towing jetskis with a Frieghtliner is just a bit of overkill.. But I know what you went through. Try backing up a dumptruck with a wood chipper or worse yet, log splitter on the back. Cant even see the thing coming around the dumpbed till its almost sideways. |
Re: New hobby, whole new set of problems.
ping pong, badmitton, stamp collecting - you never know, you might find these pursuits rewarding and fulfilling -
